Perform inspections on HVAC systems and components to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs and perform preventive maintenance. Clean, lubricate, and repack working parts of the system. Track performance of routine and preventive maintenance; troubleshoot HVAC/R systems with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions. Respond to service calls and preventive maintenance inspections and produce reports in writing through a computer maintenance management system (CMMS) regarding malfunctioning/inoperable equipment. Respond to emergencies during and after hours to resolve issues. Diagnose causes of problems and determine equipment and/or system repair or replacement needs. Install, repair, and maintain large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning (AC), and cooling systems with complex problems and extensive repairs. Independently perform recurring work on exhaust fans, boilers, air handlers, pumps, motors, air dryers, and related HVAC equipment, including HVAC control and monitoring systems. Install, modify, overhauls, repair, and maintain a variety of complex HVAC equipment, air conditioning, air handlers, pumps, motors, valves, heating systems, and associated control equipment. Collaborate with engineering or scientific personnel to discuss plans, modifications, and user needs; review plans, specifications, or drawings to determine equipment size, shape, and location. Design, modify, maintain, and repair critical environmental and energy support systems and associated highly sensitive computerized controls and air quality monitoring systems located within INSCOM SCIFs (U.S.-Only areas). Provide advanced technical knowledge in support of security requirements inherent in INSCOM SCIF operations, including sound baffling techniques/equipment and resolution of compromising electrical currents to sustain high system availability. Produce classified technical documentation outlining in-depth technical findings and recommendations. Design, perform emergency non-routine fault isolation of smoke removal systems and fire detection/suppression equipment used in critical military installations. Diagnose and repair complex electronic environmental systems; calibrate and lubricate unique components and controls used to provide and monitor precise environmental conditions within SCIFs housing intelligence equipment, devices, and technologies. Perform periodic worldwide deployments in strategic and tactical mobile facility environments. Provide expert technical assistance for a 24-hour operational environment with limited documentation resources. Respond to off-duty calls to support critical system outages and rapidly isolate and resolve environmental factors affecting ISR system performance; develop technical documentation for ISR support system layouts. Support US Army systems on site and deploy to other countries/theaters to perform quick reaction technical support to US forces worldwide in potentially hazardous work environments. Requirements
Current/Active TS/SCI Security Clearance. Education and Experience: College, vocational school, or high school diploma or equivalent, plus a combination of 10 years' education and experience leading to licensure as a Master HVAC, or equivalent licensure or certification at a state level; or 12 years' experience in equivalent Military HVAC training/certification. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: EPA 608 Type II (or Universal) or NATE certification; ability to maneuver in small spaces and lift 50 lbs; experience in fault isolation and resolution of tactical and strategic environmental systems and their sophisticated electronic support systems; ability to plan, install, troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems not fully covered by manuals; 4 years' experience with HVAC control and monitoring systems and their components; experience with CMMS; expert-level experience in design, installation and sustainment of computer-controlled environmental systems in mobile secure facilities; must meet US Government and industry standards for complex computer environmental systems, uninterrupted power distribution systems, and power control equipment.
