Position: Electrician Constructor Seattle City Light is seeking several Electrician Constructors to join our various teams across the utility. These roles involve installing and maintaining electrical systems using specialized tools and vehicles, providing on-the-job training to apprentices and helpers, and diagnosing and correcting faults in power generation and distribution systems. The work requires expert knowledge of electrical theory, familiarity with electrical tools and equipment, ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes, and a strong understanding of safety procedures. Employees work independently with guidance from supervisors for complex issues and utilize various written guidelines and reference materials. These positions report to an EC&M Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, test, and repair generators, control equipment, electrical motors, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
Install and repair conduit and wiring in substations, powerhouses, and other facilities.
Inspect and repair security systems, relays, station batteries, and chargers.
Diagnose and repair water-level monitoring and control systems, hoisting equipment, spillgates, intake gates, overhead cranes, and elevators.
Operate and maintain specialized mobile equipment and vehicles.
Supervise and monitor the work of Electrical Helpers and Electrician-Constructor Apprentices.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required:
Minimum of three years of electrical trades experience as an apprentice or helper, including at least one year working with 2200 volt or higher electrical equipment, or equivalent education/training/experience.
Current Washington State driver's license.
Desired:
Experience with high voltage equipment used in electrical substations and overhead/underground installations.
