Position Summary Supports students, families, and staff during transitions between base and alternative programs, ensuring compliance with district policies and fostering positive relationships.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and completion of a South Carolina approved teacher education program or valid South Carolina Educator Certification in Secondary School Counseling.
Valid SC teaching certification and a South Carolina driver’s license or government-issued ID.
Essential Duties
Interact professionally with students, teachers, and parents.
Conduct transition meetings and exit reviews with families.
Ensure accurate grades and attendance records.
Collaborate with schools to schedule and support transitions.
Participate in IEP meetings and facilitate positive relationships among team members.
Support families in navigating transition processes.
Travel occasionally to base schools for student check-ins.
Attend district meetings and adhere to confidentiality standards.
Maintain professional appearance and conduct.
Be available for in-person work during normal hours and after hours when necessary.
Physical Demands
Sit, stand, walk, and operate a motor vehicle as needed.
Lift up to 10 pounds regularly.
Work Environment Primarily indoor work with moderate noise levels, involving coordination with school staff, community members, and occasional contact with higher-level officials. Some contentious interactions may occur.
