This role involves working closely with the Nebraska/Iowa Water Business Group Manager, Regional Business Development Leaders, and Regional Market Sector Leads. Responsibilities include identifying, developing, and directing client business opportunities across our four market sectors: Drinking Water, Wastewater, Federal Water, and Water Resource Management in Nebraska and Iowa. Duties include maintaining and expanding existing client relationships, establishing new client relationships, developing market networks, forecasting, and positioning the firm for project pursuits. The role also involves leading project pursuits, developing strategies, preparing proposals and presentations, quality review, coaching teams, market analysis, and strategic planning. Excellent writing, presentation, and speaking skills are essential. Specific duties and responsibilities:
Identify and qualify leads to achieve annual area and market sector Net Fee Booked (NFB) goals. Achieve NFB goals for the area and market sectors. Manage business development and marketing budgets. Maintain client relationship management and financial systems for reporting. Understand market trends and drivers affecting clients. Develop strategic plans and growth initiatives aligned with company goals. Implement growth initiatives and strategic investments. Serve as a Client Manager for assigned accounts, maintaining strong relationships and understanding client organization and opportunities. Develop and execute client plans to capture market share. Develop business relationships with teaming partners. Implement go/no-go decision processes. Lead pursuit teams with effective win strategies. Engage project management and technical talent in pursuits. Participate in proposal development and quality reviews. Coach teams for effective presentations. Facilitate debriefs and recognize successes. Direct content marketing campaigns to enhance brand visibility. Supervise business development and marketing staff, including hiring and mentoring. Gather and act on client feedback. Apply HDR’s risk management approach in pursuits. Participate in professional associations to elevate HDR’s brand. Articulate HDR’s capabilities and advantages. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Professional registration or related technical experience. 15 years of experience in program development, pursuit management, and client relations in water consulting. Proven success in business development within the water industry. Existing network in Nebraska and Iowa is beneficial. Experience managing diverse teams. Willingness to travel, including overnight trips. Commitment to HDR’s values of quality and continuous improvement. Minimum 10 years relevant industry experience. Self-starter with a track record of completing projects independently. Deep knowledge of professional services procurement in A/E/C industry. Ability to motivate and inspire others. Strong network of clients and industry partners. Experience in sales and win strategies. Financial acumen and negotiation skills.
