Traversal is the AI Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for the enterprise—trusted by some of the world’s largest companies to troubleshoot, remediate, and prevent complex production incidents. Our mission is to free engineers from firefighting and enable them to focus on high-impact work.

The Role
As a Technical Sourcer at Traversal, you’ll help scale our engineering team across AI, infrastructure, and forward-deployed roles. You’ll work closely with the founders, Talent team, and Engineers to identify and engage exceptional talent in a highly competitive market. This is a contract role (approximately 20 hours per week) with potential to convert to full-time. We’re looking for someone with strong sourcing instincts, deep familiarity with technical profiles, and a collaborative mindset to shape a best-in-class hiring experience. Responsibilities
Partner with hiring managers to define sourcing strategies and role requirements. Research, identify, and engage top-tier talent across platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter, etc. Craft thoughtful, personalized outreach to generate interest and pipeline quality candidates. Build and manage talent pipelines across AI, infrastructure, full-stack, and forward-deployed engineering roles. Conduct initial screens and track engagement and conversion metrics. Collaborate with recruiting coordinators and hiring teams to move candidates through the funnel. Maintain accurate records in our ATS (Greenhouse) and assist with sourcing analytics. Requirements
4+ years of technical sourcing or recruiting experience, ideally in fast-paced environments. Strong understanding of software engineering disciplines, especially AI/ML, Research infra, and full-stack. Comfortable using tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, Gem, and Google Sheets to manage pipelines. Excellent communication and outreach skills, able to get the attention of top talent. Experience with Greenhouse is a plus. Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-changing environment. Nice to Have
Familiarity with Rust, Python, React, or TypeScript candidate sourcing Understanding of AI/LLM-powered product space or open-source contributor networks Prior work with companies in observability, infra, or applied ML Background in startup or zero-to-one hiring environments Compensation
This is a contract role based in New York City, requiring 20 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $85–$120/hour, depending on experience and scope of work. This is a temporary engagement with potential for conversion to full-time based on mutual fit and team needs.
