The program assistant will lead the UNH Outdoor Pool Aquatics Staff during daily operations in addition to internal and external facility rental group events. Use DSE to schedule all lifeguards and lifeguard supervisors. Attend weekly scheduling meetings and keep up to date with communications with staff. Find substitutes and coverage for shifts that are open. Lifeguard Supervisors work as a team leader as the head of the Lifeguard staff, with guidance and direction from Campus Recreation professional staff members and program assistants.Communicates with staff periodically about upcoming in-service training and leads portions of those trainings.
Safety & Risk Management (60%)
Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance.
Enforce and ensure all departmental policies are followed to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Provide appropriate first aid in conjunction with Lifeguard staff and risk management decisions when necessary.
Daily checking the pump room and chemical levels, recording chemicals, bumping the system.
Team Leadership & Communication (20%) Work as part of a team to ensure smooth daily operations and positive staff collaboration.
Communicate effectively with lifeguards, facility staff, and patrons to address concerns and enhance the overall experience.
Facility Operations & Supervision (15%) Serve as a representative of Campus Recreation to provide a safe aquatics environment and ensure that The UNH Outdoor Pool runs smoothly while providing exceptional customer service.
Implement operational procedures for ensuring water quality in compliance with NH RSA for operation of public bathing facilities.
Ensure on deck supervision during lifeguard breaks and operation outages.
Act as the main point of contact for community members, camps, teams, coaches, and university police.
Lead aquatics staff in opening and closing procedures, ensuring readiness and security of the facility. Maintain safety equipment and facility cleanliness for participant safety.
Takes directions from CPO and designated CREC professional staff.
Training, lead stations at in-services & meetings.
Additional Responsibilities (5%) Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the UNH Outdoor Pool. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in aquatics facility management or supervision.
Knowledge of risk management practices and emergency response protocols.
CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification preferred.
