Position Overview The materials planner reports to the production manager. The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring that materials and components are available to meet production schedules and customer demand. This role involves balancing supply and demand, monitoring inventory levels, and working closely with production, procurement, and logistics teams to maintain smooth operations and minimize delays or shortages.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, monitor, and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) to support production schedules and customer orders.
Ensure timely availability of materials, components, and supplies to meet demand while minimizing excess inventory.
Coordinate with procurement teams regarding purchase orders, lead times, and delivery schedules.
Track material shortages, delays, or quality issues and elevate as necessary.
Analyze and maintain inventory levels, safety stock, and reorder points.
Collaborate with production planners, schedulers, and operations teams to align material flow with manufacturing needs.
Generate and review reports on material status, usage, and forecasts.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain, procurement, and production efficiency.
Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or production scheduling (manufacturing environment preferred).
Strong understanding of MRP systems, ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics), and Microsoft Excel.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across departments.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Skills & Competencies
Supply chain planning and forecasting.
ERP/MRP system proficiency.
Inventory management and analysis.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Performs various other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager within the physical constraints of the position.
Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 – 4:30. Some flexibility with hours.
Pay is $60K to $70K based on experience.
