This position oversees the management of consultant design projects to successfully deliver complex infrastructure projects as part of the Department's Work Program. Responsibilities include managing consultant teams, contract budgets, project scope, and engaging with the public on transportation decisions throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves overseeing the production of high-quality deliverables on schedule and within budget, engaging with stakeholders, and fostering a teamwork-based environment during project design. Where You Will Work: District Five, 719 South Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, FL 32720 Annual Salary Range: $65,984.53 - $85,391.74 Your Specific Responsibilities: Manage design projects with general supervision, including rural highway capacity, interstate resurfacing, urban arterial resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation and replacement, and mobility projects. Coordinate phases of work among consultants and disciplines to maintain schedules and deadlines. Review work packages from consultants, such as plans, reports, and technical submittals. Serve as a contract manager, developing scope of services, coordinating contract activities, reviewing invoices, and negotiating agreements. Stay current on design processes, policies, and procedures, providing guidance to consultants. Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to budgets throughout the design phase. Attend meetings, conduct field reviews, and communicate with stakeholders. Provide project status reports to management. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: FDOT project management policies and procedures. Principles, laws, and regulations related to transportation project development and design. Engineering design, construction, and operations. Problem solving and research techniques. Skills in: Using engineering tools and instruments. Monitoring schedules and coordinating design phases. Working effectively with the public, consultants, and officials. Reviewing and negotiating contracts and claims. Managing multiple priorities and making timely decisions. Communicating effectively in writing and orally. Developing scope of services and staff estimates. Reviewing technical data and reports. Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Other Job-Related Requirements: Respond to emergencies as needed. Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of employment experience, or three years of higher education with 72 semester hours or 108 quarter hours.
