Job Overview The
Staff Project Controls Specialist
will lead and support project controls processes across planning, scheduling, cost management, and forecasting to ensure projects are executed efficiently and within scope. This role partners closely with internal project management teams to maintain accurate cost, schedule, and resource data using enterprise-level project control software.
Key Responsibilities
Lead project controls processes for multiple projects, ensuring budget and schedule alignment.
Set up projects within the Enterprise Planning & Controls software environment.
Create and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and detailed project schedules.
Develop, implement, and track cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts.
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams to monitor performance.
Approve purchase orders and subcontracts for correct coding and documentation.
Manage and track project change orders (both upstream and downstream).
Develop and present cash flow reports and earned value analyses.
Conduct “what-if” schedule scenarios and provide progress measurement updates.
Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM) and generate schedule reports.
Ensure data accuracy through audits and quality checks of project control deliverables.
Assist in forensic project analysis and performance improvement reviews.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years of project controls experience.
Strong scheduling background, with cost control experience preferred.
Familiarity with Oracle Primavera P6 or similar project scheduling tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Experience
Prior experience in construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
OSHA 10-hour safety certification (or ability to obtain).
Knowledge of earned value management systems (EVMS).
Experience in resource loading and progress measurement systems.
