Description Our Sr. Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations or functions at the site. Additional responsibilities include managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations, and developing leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.

Responsibilities

Drive the creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the FC to meet and exceed business plans.

Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience of either Inbound or Outbound operations.

Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers. Measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable for their performance and their departments'.

Leverage the Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and integrating them into improvement plans for the functional area.

Share best practices across all departments, shifts, and the network proactively.

Collaborate with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other Sr. Operations Managers) to secure support and resources for projects and initiatives, as well as provide support for other staff initiatives.

Additional Job Elements

Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.

Regularly bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.

Walk frequently in the FC and around the area, which can be over a quarter mile in length.

Stand and walk for an average of 5 miles daily.

Work in environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air-conditioned.

Access all areas of the building safely, including ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or 2+ years of Amazon experience.

7+ years of direct management experience, including managing a salaried workforce in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.

Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.

Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and terminations.

Flexibility to work various hours, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA preferred.

Experience managing a contingent workforce during peak seasons.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle stressful situations with good judgment.

Interest in long-term career development through assignments across multiple FCs nationwide.
