The site maintenance mechanic repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. Support and enforce SQF/QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. “Food Safety and Quality” are the responsibilities of this position. Essential Functions
Maintain and repair all production equipment: including but not limited to, pumps, pasteurizers, atomizers, evaporators, dryers, valves, baggers, robots, etc. Maintain and repair all support equipment: including but not limited to, boiler, air-compressors, ammonia compressors, thermal storage units, condensers, vacuum pumps, ammonia systems, air conditioning units, sewer meters, conductivity meters, water meters, etc. Must have a working knowledge of and experience in plant maintenance operations. Be an active part of the emergency response team. Handling of chemicals for support equipment operation. Daily utilities reading. Ordering/maintaining inventories for all parts to service all equipment plant wide. Fabrication and manufacturing of equipment for production needs; ensuring such fabrication and manufacturing is in accordance with applicable safety regulations. Documentation of all schematic and diagram changes to keep plant record current. Responsible for working with a minimum amount of supervision in all key areas. Responsible for care and safe keeping of tools supplied by CDI. Responsible for reporting on a daily basis work orders and activity reports. Required to climb stairs, ladders and work in confined spaces. Employee will be subject to temperatures ranging from 50 degrees F to 130 degrees F. Responsible for all work being done in a timely fashion and done properly. Responsible for coaching and training teammates. Follow all company Policies, such as but not limited to: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safe Quality Foods (SQF), and Safety Rules and procedures. Must have the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees. Maintain regular and reliable attendance at work. Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly. Other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
Must be able to work in a quick and efficient manner. Must be able to read and understand all company rules and GMP’s. Must be able to work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures. Must be able to work well with other people. Must be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license. Education and/or Experience
Proficient in verbal and written communication skills; Basic computation skills; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Has a current forklift operator’s license or the ability to acquire and maintain required certification. Minimum four years’ experience with proficiency of a journey level status or equivalent. High school level graduate required. Must have the ability to read and understand written and/or verbal instructions. Language Skills
A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed. Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license. Must possess and maintain a first responder certificate. Physical Demands

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The use of non-slip footwear is necessary due to slippery and wet floors. The use of rubber gloves is necessary to perform job functions. Constantly subjected to moving mechanical parts. An employee may come into contact with ammonia, acids, caustics, chlorines, paints, particles, oils and lubricants, steam, pneumatics, fumes and hazardous gases. Employee will be subject to temperatures ranging from 30 degrees F to 130 degrees F. Working area is noisy and may require that hearing protection be worn at all times.
