Sales & Business Development Manager Location: Capewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CT

Reports to: President and General Manager

Position Summary The Sales and Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving sales and business development efforts, with a focus on product line diversification opportunities and strategic sales growth. Reporting to the President and General Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales engagement plans, fostering customer relationships, and achieving sales targets aligned with the company's mission and goals. The Sales and Business Development Manager will plan and direct all aspects of sales and marketing including new customer acquisition and existing key account management.

Primary Responsibilities

Participate and contribute to the development, execution and achievement of the company's overall strategy as set by the Senior Leadership Team.

Define and execute a sales plan for business development within desired markets in alignment with company strategy.

Directly supervise inside sales, customer service, and marketing to ensure company sales and marketing initiatives are synchronized with the company strategy and sales engagement plan.

Define a Market Feedback Assessment (MFA) plan through customer surveys or other mechanisms that allow Capewell to measure and rapidly respond to a customer concern or trend.

Develop a company tradeshow engagement plan with a corresponding budget and represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and networking events.

Implement an inbound lead generation program.

Initiate and cultivate relationships with current and new customers. Re-engage with historical customers.

Research and qualify new aerospace and defense markets for domestic and global expansion.

Set sales goals and manage the opportunity pipeline.

Manage specific product lines effectively.

Meet or exceed the company bookings budget and other agreed sales metrics.

Acquire comprehensive knowledge of Capewell's history and product lines.

Gain proficiency in Capewell's sales and customer service process.

Become a champion with the ERP system, utilizing "Visual" and "Smart Views" effectively.

Participate actively in day-to-day communications concerning Aerial Delivery and EDD products, owning the Voice of the Customer (VOC) throughout the quote-to-cash process.

Provide support and guidance to marketing and customer service personnel.

Support colleagues with daily inquiries and client outreach.

Foster a success-oriented and accountable environment within sales.

Improve sales funnel management.

Travel is required based on business needs. Candidates should be prepared for regular travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.

Maintain a safe and clean work area.

Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.

This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor; safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are required by all.

Other Duties Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Conduct annual performance evaluations for all direct reports, ensuring timely, constructive feedback and alignment with organizational goals.

Engage with team members regularly to ensure proactive conflict resolution, development, and alignment on tasks and priorities.

Assist in the company's goal-setting process by recommending department goals and working with team members to assign individual goals.

Education, Experience and Skills

Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.

Proven experience in sales, marketing, and business development.

Experience with military and commercial sales (both global and domestic).

Strong knowledge of the DOD B&P process (bid and proposal).

Strong familiarity and use of B&P capture management including pipeline weighting process and discipline.

Strong understanding of sales strategies and customer relationship management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

High levels of intelligence, analytical strength, and conceptual ability.

Strong presentation and team management skills.

Demonstrable success as an individual contributor and as a manager/mentor.

Strong leadership ability and experience leading and managing high-functioning teams.

Experience building scalable management processes without suffocating innovation/speed.

Implementing user-friendly systems that will allow tracking and accountability.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Work Environment

Position will work primarily in an office environment with a low noise level but may occasionally have exposure to the production floor with moderate to excessive noise.

This is a full-time, onsite position.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM and every other Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break.

Compensation The hiring range for this position is $150,000. This is an estimate and the actual rate may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
