The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Michigan Technological University invites applications and nominations for an assistant teaching professor position. Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Teach undergraduate courses in experimental laboratory techniques, biomaterials, biomechanics, and/or other BME core courses.
Supervise senior design projects and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Lead curriculum design for undergraduate bioengineering courses.
Support the department's mission through innovative pedagogy, curriculum development, and professional engagement.
Conduct research as appropriate.
Contribute to Department, University, and external professional service activities.
Integrate safety practices and pursue continuous improvement in daily work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
Earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or a closely related field.
Required Experience
Teaching experience in undergraduate engineering courses.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
Face-to-face and online undergraduate teaching experience.
Graduate-level teaching experience in area of expertise.
Ability to conduct research.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
Broad understanding of biomedical engineering undergraduate education and the ability to teach rigorous engineering courses.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
Interest and ability to conduct research in area of specialization.
Demonstrated success working with people with diverse backgrounds.
Work Environment and Physical Demands The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment
University-required trainings: Employee Safety Overview; Anti-Harassment, Discrimination, and Retaliation Training; Annual Data Security Training; Annual Title IX Training.
Background check: Offers contingent upon and not finalized until the required background check is performed and results received.
Other conditions: Must ensure eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment. This is not an E-Verified position.
