Assures safe delivery of high quality radiation therapy. Provides consultative services for treatment planning, treatment implementation, and for radiation safety. Responsibilities
Oversees the quality control of designated areas and quality management of the Radiation Oncology Department.
Oversees accurate and safe dosimetry procedures, treatment delivery and appropriate documentation. Audits charts weekly for accuracy. Performs required quality control (calibrations, manual and policy and procedure review, etc.) for all radiation producing departments. Responsible for the Radiation Oncology Quality Management Program.
Provides consultation and education to radiation oncologist, staff and other departments.
Demonstrates and shares professional and technical skills with other health care providers to enhance quality of patient care. Provides in-services and direction to health care providers relating to radiation safety, treatment planning, reproducibility of treatments and implementation of new techniques and procedures. Actively participates in weekly chart rounds.
Maintains facility compliance with all State and Federal regulations and licensure requirements which govern activities utilizing radioactive materials and X-ray producing equipment
Serves as hospital Radiation Safety Officer. Monitors Federal and State regulatory compliance as required.
Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree Doctoral Degree Medical physics or related field Medical physics or related field Experience: 2 years: Medical physics in a radiation oncology setting AcQSIM Simulation process and stereotactic radiosurgery Licensure:Board certified by American Board or Radiology or American College of Medical Physics
