Description:
The Process Engineering team takes responsibility for daily process maintenance, new product development, new process introduction, and system integration of equipment to support mass production and improve process capability for the photovoltaic module assembly facility in Texas.
The Process Engineering team performs duties related to manufacturing processes, product development, product quality, documentation, and operator training.
The ideal candidate will proactively identify opportunities to optimize products, processes, and equipment for manufacturing. The Process Engineering team must possess the capabilities to drive continuous improvement of product quality, processes, and manufacturing costs.
Responsibilities:
Work with product design teams to formulate manufacturing processes for new products and support product ramp-up.
Oversee process design, production line layout, system integration, and ensure manufacturing process capacity and capability meet business demand.
Improve manufacturing processes and equipment efficiency to boost productivity, product quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.
Evaluate and adopt new manufacturing technology, equipment, and methodologies.
Maintain and develop manufacturing work instructions and provide training to cross-functional teams.
Create Engineering Change Notices (ECN) related to manufacturing processes, quality, and product cost improvements.
Participate in PFMEA / Control Plan creation.
Support material supplier qualification, inspection, and testing as needed.
Establish and maintain work standards for product costing and productivity measurement.
Ensure all activities comply with the Canadian Solar Code of Business Conduct.
Support ISO 9001 activities.
Adhere to environmental, health, and safety policies.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Engineering degree in a relevant field, e.g., B.Eng. (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent).
1-3 years of experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer in high-volume manufacturing, preferably in the photovoltaic industry.
Knowledge of PLC, machine automation, controls, robotics, and machine operations is preferred.
Proven success in manufacturing process improvement, capacity enhancement, and quality improvement.
Strong understanding of production line layout, machine operations, line balancing, and product quality.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement tools.
Background in Quality Control; skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and root cause analysis are preferred.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks is preferred.
Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Self-directed with minimal supervision.
