NVA General Practice An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the opportunity to understand day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment, commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on exceptional service to animals and the people who love them. Responsibilities include working closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. externs will also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. We are involved with community outreach and education. 35% reproduction, TCI, cryogenics, progesterone timing in-house, artificial inseminations, c-sections. Most externship experiences at Woodlake Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
