Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Cytogenetics
Labcorp is seeking an experienced Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team in Brentwood, TN. The role is part of our mission "Improving Health, Improving Lives" in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused and challenging laboratory environment.
Work Schedule Tuesday – Saturday, 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm.

Job Responsibilities
Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing per established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions per departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to ensure quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
Assist with specimen processing when required.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non‑traditional degree meeting CLIA & State requirements.
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience in cytogenetics/FISH or a Bachelors in Cytogenetics/MLS degree.
Previous laboratory testing experience in cytogenetics/FISH highly preferred.
Certification by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp‑CG) is a plus.
ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Proficiency with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.
