Hours:

Primarily nights (12:00 am – 8:30 am).

Key Responsibilities

Client Assessment and Evaluation:

Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate clients’ mental‑health status, behavioral issues, and psychosocial needs using standardized risk‑assessment tools.

Care and Treatment Planning:

Collaborate with patients, families, community support, and healthcare providers to create individualized care plans tailored to medical and psychosocial needs.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Communication:

Coordinate with physicians, unit nurses, social workers, security personnel, and outside agencies to expedite patient progression through the continuum of care.

Crisis Intervention and Stabilization:

Provide immediate crisis intervention, including de‑escalation techniques, brief counseling, and safety planning for clients experiencing acute psychiatric crises such as suicidal ideation, severe anxiety, psychosis, or substance‑induced issues.

Patient and Family Education:

Educate patients and families about mental‑health conditions, assessment and treatment processes, and community resources.

Discharge Planning and Referrals:

Facilitate referrals to appropriate inpatient or outpatient mental‑health services to ensure a smooth transition of care.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Advocacy:

Advocate for patients’ needs and rights, ensuring culturally competent and respectful care.

Professional Development and Education:

Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements; provide leadership and guidance to the healthcare support team.

Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to ethical business practices, hospital policies, safety protocols, infection control, and patient confidentiality; contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.

1‑year recent experience in a behavioral‑health setting preferred; 3‑year recent healthcare experience preferred.

Experience in an acute‑care setting preferred.

LMSW, LAPC, LCSW, or LPC license in the state of Georgia required, or a license obtained within 90 days of hire.

Working knowledge of software/EMR applications.

Meet all quality and productivity expectations; successfully complete yearly competencies.

Ability to work four shifts per month.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs; carrying objects up to 25 lbs; recurring standing, walking, sitting, and close‑eye work such as computer use. Physical demands may vary depending on assigned tasks.

Environmental Factors:

Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, bio‑hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient‑care injuries, radiation. Shift work and travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, is mandatory.
