Job Summary Acuity is looking for a
Physical Therapist
to support our contract in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures and a full range of therapy services in support of patient referrals from Orthopedics, General Medicine, Surgery, Primary Care, Rheumatology and other specialties.
Provide safe and timely patient care. Develop realistic, documented treatment goals that comply with and satisfy the intent of the referring medical staff.
Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient.
Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities such as non‑manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily‑living activities, and in the use of assistive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
Administer treatments involving physical agents, using equipment such as a pulsed lavage unit, whirlpool bath, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
Administer soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology. Administer traction to relieve pain using traction equipment.
Record treatment, response, and progress in patient charts and/or automated systems.
Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
Evaluate, fit, and adjust the patient’s prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modification as required.
Coordinate treatment with physicians and other staff members to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment programs, and integrate PT with other aspects of the patient’s health care. Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns as required.
Provide documented treatment and discharge recommendations to staff in routine, emergency, and special cases as needed.
Provide clinical direction to assistants, technicians, aides, students, etc.
Provide input and attend rehabilitation team meetings, seminars, and quality assurance meetings.
Participate in peer review activities.
Qualifications
Possess a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
Current, unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist in any of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in the past three (3) years in physical therapy rehabilitation, with emphasis in manual therapy, orthopedics, and neurology.
BLS certification.
Valid, current U.S. Driver’s License.
Valid U.S. Passport with at least six (6) months remaining before expiration.
Proficient in speaking, writing, and communicating in English.
Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense.
Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and be bound to its terms and conditions.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
Must be medically and dentally fit according to Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and/or Client directives, as confirmed by a medical examination.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment; travel to Kwajalein by air is required.
