Responsibilities
Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and tests in the exam room under direct supervision.
Advises patients on preparation and testing required for exams.
Ensures all pre‑visit work required for exam is completed and that lab and other test results are available in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Delivers excellent customer service and strengthens the patient‑clinician relationship through timely and informative interactions with patients.
Improves clinical operations and efficiencies by providing efficient flow of patients.
Provides clinical and clerical support to the practice and clinicians related to patient care.
May provide direct clinical support to one or more assigned clinicians.
Qualifications Education/Licenses/Certifications High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification required. Associate degree in medical assisting or graduate of medical assistant certification program preferred. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
Experience Minimum one year prior experience in a clinical or customer service setting. Computer experience required with ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs. Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience required.
Skills Able to communicate in a professional and appropriate manner. Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management, and organizational skills required. Ability to be a quick thinker and relate to all levels of staff and patients highly important. Ability to prioritize work throughout the day in a busy environment.
