The role involves providing pharmacy services including preparing and distributing pharmaceuticals, inventory control, customer service, maintaining pharmacy records, and operating and monitoring pharmacy automated technology systems. The Pharmacy Technician I works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to ensure delivery of high-quality patient-focused services.
Primary Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, processes prescription orders in a timely manner; retrieves, counts, measures and prepares medications, solutions, ointments, and other compounds as directed. Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximized patient care outcomes. Assist Pharmacist with all third-party transactions including the completion of any documentation.
Conducts interpersonal communications in a courteous and friendly manner.
Responsible for filling, pickup and delivery of patient-specific medication, including delivery to appropriate areas in a timely manner, packing, processing, and tracking orders.
Obtains information for new prescriptions and/or reconciliation purposes accurately and in accordance with the law.
Refers all clinician and customer clinical questions to a pharmacist in a timely manner.
Retrieves and files pharmacy prescriptions, records, and logs in the appropriate files and in accordance with the law.
Maintains cleanliness of all pharmacy areas and supplies.
Maintains familiarity with department policies and procedures.
Adapts to changes in departmental needs, including offering assistance to other team members, floating, adjusting assignments, etc.
If applicable, assists with enrollment processes for patient support programs.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Active state certification with Board of Pharmacy in Massachusetts.
0-1 years related work experience required.
Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of professionals (physicians, nurses, administration).
Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).
Preferred Qualifications
National Certification verified by PTCB and ExCPT.
Knowledge of Epic, PioneerRx and ParataMax preferred.
Previous experience with quality assurance.
Pay $24.00 - $32.30 per hour. The actual compensation is based on factors including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and applicable laws. Pay may include shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other compensation practices as applicable.
