Examiner Nurse Practitioner – Loyal Source Government Services
As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The role involves reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and rendering a medical opinion based on the review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran, providing an exceptional experience that positively impacts each Veteran.
The medical disability examinations are a critical part of the VA’s process for determining benefits Veterans can receive as a result of service‑connected health issues. Your clinical insights will facilitate access to treatment subspecialists when needed, ensuring continuity of care for those in need.
Pay:
Base + Monthly incentive = $130,332 – $160,326 per year
Job Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and assessing functional impact.
Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation.
Render objective medical opinions based on examination findings, diagnostic results, and record review.
Maintain and submit examination findings to the case management system and quality assurance team.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts as needed.
Document findings accurately in reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations.
Partner with Loyal Source departments to gain support and use resources for optimal performance.
Manage time effectively, including scheduling and confirming availability for C&P exams.
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations.
Submit thorough and accurate examination findings to the QA team.
Maintain compliance with all VA training requirements and stay updated on VA MDE program requirements.
Safeguard confidentiality of all patient information and examination results in accordance with HIPAA and privacy protocols.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing school and hold a valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Preferred experience in medical disability examinations or a related field.
Basic Life Support certification (renewable).
Experience or familiarity with military or veteran communities preferred.
Specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations or occupational health is advantageous.
Proficiency in comprehensive medical assessments, diagnostic interpretation, and evidence‑based opinion formulation.
Compassionate and patient‑centered approach to evaluation.
Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of presenting findings to diverse audiences.
Commitment to ethical standards and objective evaluations.
Detail‑oriented with focus on data quality and compliance with LS and VA standards.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills, capable of handling multiple initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency.
Authorized to work in the United States, including compliance with federal contractor requirements.
Other Requirements
Technology: Competent with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records, Teams, and learning‑management systems.
Physical: Prolonged periods of standing and sitting, lifting up to 15 pounds, full range of motion for examinations.
Travel: 10% travel to support other clinics; additional travel for training or company events.
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm; standard schedule, holidays clinics closed.
