PRN Access Nurse - Florida

Responsibilities

Coordinate patient flow by facilitating hospital transfers and direct admissions, determine daily bed resources for all access points (hospital transfer, direct admission, post-operative and emergency department admissions), and oversee bed management logistics for the health system.

Serve as the primary point of contact for telephone patients with a variety of health or illness questions.

Utilize effective and professional communication, clinical knowledge, and nursing assessment skills to triage patient status.

Provide intake, assessment, and triage for internal and external hospital transfers and direct admissions on request in accordance with standard operating procedures, including telephonic contact via recorded conferences, electronic documentation, and connecting appropriate providers for safe exchange of patient information.

Elicit information from referring providers, review patient clinical information, and assess patient status for appropriate placement.

Collaborate with healthcare providers and hospital leadership to optimize patient outcomes using clinical expertise and nursing/management experience with critical thinking and business intelligence tools.

Apply understanding of patient status complexities and hospital system capabilities to facilitate seamless enterprise bed placement.

Provide oversight of all bed management functions and function at any point in the patient flow to ensure safe, efficient placement and optimal use of resources.

Demonstrate cost-effective management of enterprise bed resources to support quality care delivery.

Minimum qualifications

Lives within one hour of a Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Florida.

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.

Three years of recent progressive clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Preferred qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Two years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft applications, bed management databases, and Epic.

Additional details Caregiver must have FL RN License to be considered for this position.

Caregiver shifts: vary from 2:00pm – 10:30pm or 6:00am - 2:00pm. For a PRN role, caregivers must work 48 hours within a 6-week period. Caregiver must live within one hour of a Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Florida. Training will be 1 week at Tradition Hospital.

Pay range Minimum hourly: $30.41

Maximum hourly: $46.38

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after considering factors such as work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package or applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime).
