Overview
Oncology Nurse (ICU) – Requisition ID req34680. Working Title: Clinic Oncology RN. The UNMCC is recruiting a Clinic Oncology RN. The candidate will provide direct patient care to Oncology patients and be responsible for nursing assessments via in person and telephone triage, coordinate the delivery of oncology treatments, often in intensive care conditions, to assigned patients in a medical oncology facility, ensuring adherence to hospital or department and University policies, and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its 136 board-certified oncology specialists include cancer surgeons in multiple specialties, adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to cancer patients from across the state and partner with community health systems to bring care closer to home. In 2024 they treated more than 15,000 patients in almost 105,000 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. A total of 2,075 patients participated in cancer clinical trials. The cancer research program involved more than 123 researchers awarded $38.3 million in federal and private grants and contracts. Since 2015, the organization has provided education and training experiences to more than 750 students and fellows in cancer research and cancer health care delivery. CPR Certified. Must maintain certification and/or licensure status. Required to complete department-specific professional development activities. May be required to submit immunization records for review for required vaccines and TB testing. UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination; candidate may decline vaccination through a declination form or may provide record of vaccination from a previous employer. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University\'s influenza vaccination requirement. Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure: State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multi-state privilege to practice compact with New Mexico. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications
