Externship Opportunity at NVA Hospital
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital has its own characteristics, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners. Students will work closely with supervising DVMs to gain experience in: Gathering patient histories Performing physical exams Creating treatment plans Diagnostics and dentistry services Observing or assisting in surgical procedures Medical management of patients Externs will also have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. The externship duration typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All DVM students, regardless of their class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships at Riverview Animal Hospital. DVM students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
