Scope of Performance

Perform laboratory work including tests, analyses, and procedures with high hazard materials. This also includes wet chemistry techniques and instrumentation standards. Perform project engineering duties to include preparation of cost proposals, planning project execution, providing technical oversight, preparing SOPs, ensuring quality requirements are met, developing engineering solutions to problems, preparing specifications, and communicating project results to management and other team members. Key Responsibilities

Primary disciplines include but not limited to Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) Secondary disciplines include but are not limited to Inductively Coupled Plasma- Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) Intermediate knowledge of analytical, evaluative, and problem solving necessary to perform professional scientific/engineering work. Ability to use intermediate engineering/scientific techniques, requirements, methods, sources, and procedures in a specialty area. Benchtop and wet-chemistry techniques for both quantitative and qualitative measurements of physical properties of materials Conduct tests on materials and other substances to ensure that safety and quality standards are met. Analyze substances to determine their composition and concentration of elements Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of chemicals and their safe use, storage, and disposal. Ability to follow DOD/DON procedures, policy, and guidance. Education and Experience - Required

Bachelor's degree in science/chemical engineer or related field. Experience in Chromatography and Spectroscopy required Knowledge of polymer-based chemistry with experience in GPC, FTIR, and HPLC is preferred Ability or receive and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen Ability to work in a laboratory environment and applicable equipment Knowledge in high hazard materials Must complete and maintain Qualification/Certification status. Ability to work off schedule and night shift
