La Clínica de La Raza is a community-based health center committed to providing culturally appropriate, high-quality, and accessible health care to the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. We have spent over 40 years advocating for and creating a health home for those denied access to care. As health care activists, we focus on ensuring individuals without health coverage receive the same quality healthcare as those with coverage. Since our founding in 1971, we have understood that healing communities requires addressing economic and social factors affecting health. We often provide services outside our clinics to connect individuals to preventive and primary care. Over 86,000 individuals visit La Clínica because it is a welcoming place that addresses the whole person, connecting them to a broad network of services to improve health and well-being. While rooted in activism and social justice, we have grown into a sophisticated provider of primary health care across 35 sites in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano counties. Who you are
Doing work that heals: The Bilingual Mental Health Therapist (ASW/MSW, LCSW, AMFT, MFT, PhD/PsyD, LPCC) position is based at Casa del Sol, La Clínica's mental health department serving Alameda County's Latino population. The specific focus depends on the assigned program. The role requires high emotional intelligence, the ability to connect with clients, and maintain productivity. We offer robust perks including educational leave, stipends, FTCA malpractice coverage, and are a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) approved site for tax-free loan repayment. Our clinics are in the culturally diverse, beautiful Bay Area, known for its excellent schools and recreational activities. Major Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to:
Client Care & Treatment
Provide culturally sensitive behavioral health assessments, treatment, and case management for children and/or adults with mental health conditions. Perform comprehensive assessments, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group therapy, psycho-education, treatment planning, goal setting, collateral services, progress monitoring, and care coordination. Formulate provisional DSM and ICD-10 diagnoses under supervision. Co-manage client care under licensed supervision. Utilize modalities like CBT, solution-focused counseling, and Motivational Interviewing. Productivity and Outcomes
Submit paperwork timely and accurately. Use electronic systems for scheduling and charting. Engage in collaborative documentation when appropriate. Measure service effectiveness with standardized outcomes. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, case conferences, and peer reviews. Perform other clinical, administrative, and operational duties as assigned. Commitment to Quality
Review clinical interventions and documentation regularly with supervisor. Be flexible to meet client needs. Demonstrate high interpersonal competence with staff and clients. Manage time effectively and utilize evidence-based practices. Ensure compliance with agency, state, and county guidelines and standards. Knowledge
Knowledge of DSM-5 and therapy principles. Understanding of case management, social work, mental and physical health impacts, and social aspects of mental health. Awareness of ethical standards and legal requirements. Abilities
Fluency in Spanish and English. Multitasking and managing multiple clients. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Accurate data recording. Meet productivity and documentation standards. Support diversity, equity, and inclusion. Proficiency with computers and electronic health records. Other Certifications and Experience
At least two years of experience in mental health or related fields; internships may substitute for recent graduates. Experience with Medi-Cal documentation preferred but not required. Cultural competence in diverse and low-income communities. For Clinician I: MSW, Psychology, MFT, or related degree; registration with BBS required. For Clinician II: LCSW, MFT, PsyD/PhD, LPCC license required; meeting standards for at least 4 months.
