Job Description Summary
The Physical Therapist II (Inpatient) is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients referred to the facility. This includes patient evaluation, development and implementation of an appropriate treatment plan, delivery of treatment services, and comprehensive discharge planning. The therapist functions as an effective team member and contributes to the development and achievement of department and organizational goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
Evaluates and implements competent therapy treatment and provides regular re-assessments for the purpose of treatment modification, to maximize patients’ potential for functional independence, in accordance with acceptable practice guidelines and department policies and procedures
Communicates patient status (evaluation results, treatment plan, and goals) by providing timely written or verbal communication to physicians and therapy customers
Consistently establishes and maintains effective working relations with patients, family members, internal customers, and external customers
Demonstrates an understanding of the financial implications of treatment costs and resources on the department/facility by consistently working to provide cost effective treatment programming
Ensures that patient charges and corresponding clinical documentation are in compliance with regulatory standards and department policies and procedures
Oversees rehab technicians, therapy assistants, and students consistent with discipline practice acts and according to organization and department policies and procedures
Self-monitors workflow to ensure productivity, standards of practice, and regulatory requirements are consistently met
Reviews work of staff/personnel accordingly
Actively participates in program development, performance improvement activities, and community events sponsored by the organization
Responds to feedback/concerns in a professional manner that demonstrates effective listening skills and problem solving
