The Presbyterian Downtown Surgical Services department is seeking a Certified VOR (Vascular Operating Room) Surgical Technician/Certified VOR Scrub Technician to join the team. You will provide assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room. You will also work under the supervision of the surgeon while facilitating a safe, effective, and orderly operating room to maximize patient safety. Demonstrates superior knowledge of advanced surgical equipment and instrumentation Demonstrates leadership abilities and coordinates effective use of personnel and materials Delivers continuing education topics and applies knowledge related to emergency situations Demonstrates critical thinking to anticipate patient and surgeon needs Performs instrument counts and maintains accurate counts during procedures Prepares supplies and instruments; maintains sterile field Prepares patient skin; positions patient during surgery; monitors patient during surgery Provides supportive care during pre-operative phase; performs scrub functions Ensures specimens are correctly handled Keeps current knowledge of anatomy/physiology and intraoperative medications Keeps up-to-date with field developments; follows safety procedures Specialized procedures experience: neurosurgery, high risk pediatric ENT, transplants, robotics, bariatrics, joint replacement and vascular; instrumentation, microscopes, navigation systems, and neuromonitoring awareness as needed Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED plus short-term OR training Graduate of surgical technician certification from an accredited program; certification required or minimum of 10+ years of experience with ability to perform all specialties Minimum of three years experience in a hospital operating room Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment; working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique Current BLS required at time of hire About Presbyterian Healthcare Services
