Overview
The Radiologic Technologist performs medical exams using X-rays or other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients to create images for diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Working under direct supervision, this role prepares patients for exams, moves patients to the correct position, operates the equipment, and minimizes radiation dose to patients. Responsibilities
Follows instructions from physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging. Talks the patient through the procedure and answers questions to lower anxiety and increase understanding. Positions the patient correctly and adjusts the imaging equipment to produce quality images of specific body parts. Prevents unnecessary radiation exposure to themselves and to the patient. Follows correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic imaging services. Completes required documentation for each procedure to ensure proper patient records and facilitate communication among healthcare providers. Performs other duties as assigned. Education:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program. Licensure/Certification/Registry/Listing:
