Overview
Occupational Therapist II (Special Education: Powder Mill Campus) Hiring Incentive at Kennedy Krieger Institute. The Occupational Therapist will perform evaluations and planning, and execute therapy programs for children with neuromotor dysfunction, sensory integrative disorders and emotional disturbances. The OT II will supervise OT students, COTAs and volunteers/aides, participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary training for staff, parents, and community agencies, and develop and coordinate student and staff education programs within the area of specialty. The OT II may participate in clinical research within the specialty area. $2500 Hiring Incentive Responsibilities
Screen, evaluate and treat students as per parent, teacher and or physician referral. Educate parents/caretaker and staff in student care and design home programs as applicable. Prepare written documentation including annual IEPs, quarterly reports, daily log notes, billing sheets and related service provider logs in accordance with KKI, Maryland OT guidelines, and COMAR guidelines. Effectively function within an interdisciplinary team. Supervise fieldwork students (Level I and II), COTAs, aides, volunteers. Assist in care and maintenance of therapy department equipment and supplies. Participate and support OT department activities, including in-services and peer reviews. Participate in planning and executing programs for departmental growth and continuity within the education programs. Qualifications
Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI. Clinical focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities. Ability to provide program development, evaluation, and performance improvement measures within the specialty area. Education
Baccalaureate Degree required; basic Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy (MA/MS) in OT preferred. Experience
Three years licensed experience in Occupational Therapy with at least two years documented experience in the area of specialty. Experience in pediatrics and/or rehabilitation and treatment preferred. Benefits
