Lab Technician

Pay : $39,225 - $47,070/annually, based on experience Hours : 7:00am - 3:30pm, M-Fr While reporting to the Physical Testing Lab Supervisor, you will accept the responsibility for overall completion of routine paper/tube testing, analytical testing and assignments of substantial variety and complexity. You must be able to work safely and effectively, demonstrate good housekeeping skills and able to lift and move large numbers of samples, in production and lab environments. What You’ll Be Doing: Utilizing machinery and equipment to include Computers, Instron, Radial Crush Tester, Dynamic Load Tester, TIR Tester, pH meter, Oven, Tape Measure, Moisture Meter, Balances, Weights, Various Types of Saws, Height Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Pi-Tape and various Paper Testing Machines. Operate with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be multi-task oriented and be able to work under time and budget restraints. Must be able to quickly understand the concepts behind various paper and tube physical and chemical tests and be able to set-up and conduct those tests, analyze results, draw conclusions, and make reports. Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and other databases for documentation. Analytical skills would be a plus. We’d love to hear from you if: At a minimum HS diploma, associate degree or 4-year undergraduate degree in a technical field is desirable. 6 months manufacturing or quality experience, preferably within Sonoco. Walking, standing, or sitting for long periods of time, able to lift up to 40 lbs. Computer literate, analytical, detail oriented, strong communicator, customer focused, team player and self-motivated.
