EXPANDED DUTIES DENTAL ASSISTANT (FHC)

Under close supervision, performs expanded duties dental assisting work. Responsible for assisting a dentist in examining and treating patients.
Examples of the Work
Places temporary and permanent restorations in teeth and shapes to proper contour. Prepares patients for treatments and obtains dental records. Assists the dentist at chair side. Removes sutures and places rubber dams as directed by dentist. Takes, develops, and mounts x-rays. Records patient's personal information and medical history and records dental treatment and charges. Changes x-ray solutions and sterilization solutions. Sterilizes instruments by appropriate techniques. Performs routine maintenance on dental equipment. Participates, as necessary, in meetings, seminars and initiatives. Adheres to standard precautions. Performs related work as required. Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or its equivalent. Six months of verified expanded duties dental assistant experience -OR- completion of an Expanded Duties Dental Assisting training program. Completion of a radiation safety class, as defined by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted, as determined applicable by Civil Service. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Responds to patient and FHC needs via telephone, internet, fax, computer software and in person. Identifies medical/dental record documentation, requests, and/or releases. Spends extended periods of time sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and reaching. Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE), as mandated by OSHA and/or FHC. Special Requirements
Must be available to work a varied schedule, including evenings and/or Saturdays, as needed. Must provide own transportation to work at other FHC locations as needed. An Equal Opportunity Employer
