Overview
Lab Processing Technician - Histology role at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, in the Medicine | Pathology department. The position operates in the Histology Laboratory within the Division of Surgical Pathology under the direct supervision of Lead Histology Technologists (and the Clinical Laboratory Manager) with functional supervision from higher level staff.
Responsibilities
Assist with cover slipping of slides for viewing under microscopes.
Collate and organize paperwork accompanying slides.
Pack, unpack, sort and transport samples and slides to assigned locations.
Assist with basic and general lab functions and perform general cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments.
Receive tissue cassettes, process blocks and slide send-outs, and track items using Beaker barcode scanning.
Provide customer service duties such as answering telephone/email inquiries, entering manual orders, and resolving problems from department staff and pathologists.
Numerically pull and/or file paraffin blocks; assist with daily maintenance and reagent changes on staining and processing equipment.
Sort slides by case and ensure they are delivered accurately to scanning or to the appropriate pathologist.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED.
