The Special Procedure Technologist demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients served. They are able to scrub and assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies. Additionally, they are responsible for recording and monitoring these cases, as well as understanding hemodynamic measurements and valve area readings. This is a PRN (as needed) role with scheduling requiring at least two shifts per month or two call shifts per month, or a combination of both. Call shifts are from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, with one summer and one winter holiday commitment. What You Will Do In This Role
Demonstrate the ability to perform contrast media administration according to age- and weight-specific guidelines. Set up sterile trays and maintain a sterile field according to hospital protocol. Scrub and assist the interventional physician during interventional procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of drugs, including their actions, side effects, and contraindications for administration. Exhibit the ability to start and maintain IV access. Accurately follow physician orders, document exam completion in Meditech, scan documents, and verify images in PACS. Properly measure and dispose of radioactive waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines. What Qualifications You Will Need
Candidates must have one of the following: Current license or registry certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or the ability to obtain this certification prior to hire. OR Current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)]. Additional requirements: Candidates with experience in thrombectomy and neuro procedures strongly preferred. BLS certification required. Completion of ACLS training within six months of hire. Strong interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, guests, physicians, and other employees. Minimum of one year of experience working in Special Procedures or Interventional Radiology. Willing to help support cath lab as needed, cross trained provided, if needed. New graduates of RCIS programs will also be considered. Ability to work PRN (as needed) with a requirement of either two shifts per month, two call shifts per month, or a combination of both.
