Coordinates professional nursing and family-centered care to pediatric patients/families using the nursing process and clinical skills, in accordance with standards and hospital policies. As an ECMO Specialist, you will have specialized training in the operation, maintenance, and application of circulatory technology, performing neonatal, pediatric, and adult ECMO at Children's. Demonstrates expanded knowledge through participation in ECMO program projects and activities. Flexible schedule to support ECMO patients during runs, including varied schedules with weekend and holiday shifts, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am. Essential Functions: Conduct age-specific assessments, documenting data related to patient’s individualized care. Assess patient/family education needs and deliver tailored education. Identify nursing diagnoses and protocols based on assessments. Perform reassessments and communicate changes to the healthcare team. Participate in evaluating ECMO candidates and managing ECMO procedures in collaboration with Perfusion. Prepare and operate ECMO equipment, review patient status, and troubleshoot circuit problems. Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and families. Implement and evaluate nursing actions, ensuring coordination of care and documentation. Manage ECMO flow, monitor labs, and administer medications and blood products as per protocols. Document accurately and timely in medical records and care plans. Support patient discharge planning and instructions. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ECMO program activities. Float to other units as needed, support team members, and mentor students and new staff. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Experience with pediatric patients preferred, especially NICU or PICU, or equivalent critical care experience. Skills in assessment, communication, and high-stress environment management. RN license in the state, BLS required, PALS within 180 days, and pediatric specialty certification preferred. Children’s is dedicated to supporting your career and well-being.
