Job Summary The Pharmacy Informatics Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, compliant, efficient, and productive workflows and for coordinating the day‑to‑day activities of informatics staff. The Supervisor may directly supervise a combination of Pharmacist Informatics Specialists, Pharmacy Informatics Solutions Specialists, Pharmacy Technologist Specialists, pharmacy learners, or support staff.
This position is responsible for the oversight of the design, configuration, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and support of intermediate to highly complex clinical systems related to pharmacy computer application systems and automation (e.g., Epic, Pearl, packaging automation, carousels, robots, automated dispensing cabinets, etc.) and compliance with all applicable regulations and organizational policies.
The Pharmacy Informatics Supervisor will use advanced communication and project management skills to lead quality and efficiency improvement efforts, ensuring that improvement efforts align with the organization’s priorities and timelines by collaborating with Pharmacy leadership, Information Services, and other key stakeholders.
Essential Job Functions
Able to perform all the duties required of Pharmacist Informatics Specialist as needed.
Serve as primary technology and informatics subject matter expert and possess a high level of understanding at a detailed level for all workstreams.
Lead and work as the point person and report on the development and implementation of pharmacy technology infrastructure, informatics systems, and automation.
Assign project tasks based on team members’ individual strengths, skill sets, and experience level.
Responsible for tracking and reporting on vendor compliance management, including monitoring vendors against service level agreements and contractual requirements.
Supervise and manage day‑to‑day operations of assigned pharmacy informatics systems and automation and associated informatics staff.
Supervise, manage, orient, maintain performance evaluation standards, and evaluate all assigned professional and supportive personnel.
Create and manage execution of staff development including leadership training, technical skills, technology use, and the latest industry developments.
Hold staff accountable and identify and address personnel issues proactively, with appropriate follow‑up to improve performance.
Make recommendations for promotions, merit increases, and disciplinary action.
Oversee personnel work assignments to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner and ensure adequate staffing when absences occur.
Coordinate the recruitment and interview process of candidates when vacancies occur.
Address problems while participating in various multidisciplinary teams and committees.
Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
Participate in the department’s strategic plan development and execution of assigned goals.
Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to assist with and deliver high quality Informatics projects and work tasks.
Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure established for the department.
Perform other related duties as required.

Work Environment and Equipment
Standard patient care equipment, related supplies, office equipment and mechanical devices.
Work environment located in a comfortable indoor area; may be required to work within a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center.
Occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs.
Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch abilities must be adequate to read small print and provide clear verbal and written communication.
Frequent periods of concentration required to interpret visual and auditory inputs.
Alertness and attention to detail required.
Must be able to perform fine hand manipulation when using a computer keyboard.
May be required to be on standby and work extended shifts as deemed necessary by Pharmacy Director or designee.
May be exposed to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, ionizing and non‑ionizing radiation, hazardous medications, and disoriented or combative patients.
Security clearance is required; pre‑employment drug testing is also required.
Required Education / Experience
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
Three years of supervisory related experience.
Four years of IS‑related experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Pearl, McKesson, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, Allscripts, GE Healthcare, etc.) and pharmacy related automation, or pharmacy informatics residency or fellowship training.
Must possess sufficient educational background and/or experience to conduct clinical application analysis and/or programming of intermediate to complex systems; analysis of clinical workflows and system adoption strategies; experience building and implementing EHR protocols in a multi‑facility hospital and clinic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Pharmacy informatics residency or fellowship training.
Epic Willow, Beacon, and/or Clarity certification.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas, or eligible; licensure must be obtained within 90 days of the start date.
