Salary:
$48,667 - $86,145 anually. Genesee Intermediate Educational Support Personnel Association.
Benefits: Eligible for health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance after one full day of employment.
Role And Essential Duties
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides services to students, staff, and families that improve and develop the use of speech and language for eligible students with disabilities.This position will be splitting time between two locations, working with Woodland students and Early On students.
Essential Duties (May Include, But Not Limited To)
Conducts evaluations related to language, articulation, fluency, and/or voice for students with suspected disabilities and students already eligible for special education services. Provides direct one-on-one and group speech and language services to eligible students with disabilities. Provides consultation to staff and parents/guardians regarding speech and language services, including use of augmentative communication systems and devices related to the individual needs of students. Develops and writes annual goals and short-term instructional objectives for students assigned to the caseload. Attends and participates in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings as requested. Compiles and maintains records, written reports and other documentation for students assigned to the caseload. Works as a team member with instructional and ancillary staff to refer eligible students for speech and language services. Works as a team member with instructional staff and parents/guardians to refer eligible students to outside agencies and other community resources. Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining equipment and supplies for speech and language services. Provides in-service information and training to staff for the integration of communication supports into daily classroom instruction. Consults, counsels, and collaborates with parents, school personnel, students and appropriate community agencies regarding behavioral and educational concerns developed in a multi-tiered system of support. Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:
Drives to and from district sites, constituent school districts, and students' homes as assigned. Represents the district on various community service agencies and professional organizations as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree required in speech-language pathology or a valid Michigan teacher's certificate with full approval in the speech and language impaired required. A valid Speech-Language Pathologist license from the State of Michigan. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is required.
Clinical fellows with Educational Limited Speech-Language Pathologist license from the State of Michigan will be considered, on-site clinical fellowship supervision is available.
Experience:
Previous experience with students with severe handicaps and augmentative communication systems and devices preferred.
Skills/Other
Ability to work with individuals and groups. Ability to communicate both orally and in written communications. Demonstrates initiative and understanding in working with students, staff, and parents/guardians. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Demonstrates mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of the position. Ability to work a flexible workday, work week, and work year. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for this position. Works successfully as a member of the team. Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Ability to make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines.
