Lead and direct a multi-shift, multidisciplinary team treating complex patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders Champion CVH’s mission by delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and improving patient outcomes Cultivate staff success through training, supervision, and acting as a key operational liaison Oversee critical unit operations and ensure compliance Foster cross-shift communication and interdisciplinary collaboration About Us
The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), is a health care agency dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of services and supports. Connecticut Valley Hospital is the State’s public hospital with a long history, comprising 18 inpatient units over two campuses (Middletown and Hartford). The division focuses on recovery as a patient-centered process and offers a range of treatments in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The Addictions Services Division provides stabilization and recovery support, including a 30-bed rehabilitation unit (Merritt Hall 2 AB) offering ASAM level 3.7 intensive treatment with trauma-informed care, DBT, medication-assisted treatment, and other approaches. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Considerable knowledge of agency policies and procedures; behavioral health treatment principles; psychiatric rehabilitation or addictions detox rehabilitation; entitlement and benefit programs; and intervention/support strategies. Knowledge of risk management, state and federal laws and regulations, cultural considerations, and psychotropic medications. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, facilitation, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to identify program models, delegate authority, plan and organize, integrate community resources, and maintain relationships with community representatives and staff; supervisory ability. Seven (7) years of professional health care experience in a behavioral health setting. Minimum Qualifications - Special Experience
Two (2) years of the General Experience must be at a lead or supervisory level coordinating the work of a unit or team of professionals in a behavioral health setting. For state employees, lead level is interpreted at the level of Advanced Clinical Social Worker, Advanced Professional Counselor, Advanced Marital and Family Therapist for behavioral health, or Head Nurse for nursing; supervisory level is interpreted at the level of Supervising Addiction Counselor for substance abuse/addictions. Minimum Qualifications - Substitutions Allowed
College coursework substitution: 15 semester hours = 0.5 year of experience, up to four years for a Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree substitution: A Master’s degree in a health care field related to one of the disciplines may substitute for one additional year of General Experience. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in inpatient/hospital settings treating co-occurring disorders. Experience with evidence-based addictions treatments. Experience supervising professional staff and coordinating clinical services in a multi-shift unit. Experience providing trauma-informed care. Knowledge of ASAM criteria and Levels of Care. Special Requirements
Incumbents must possess and retain a current license as a Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor, Marital and Family Therapist, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, a Connecticut Registered Nurse, or hold a multistate/compact RN license. Certification as a clinical supervisor may be required by the Connecticut Certification Board. Bilingual or American Sign Language proficiency may be required. Travel may be required.
