San Antonio Recovery Center
San Antonio Recovery Center is looking for a Licensed Vocational Nurse/Registered Nurse (LVN/RN) to provide direct care for individuals in our Detoxification Unit.
Responsibilities
Complete the admission procedures, including paperwork, orientation, and monitoring urinalysis collection.
Conduct thorough searches of individuals’ belongings upon admission and properly dispose of any prohibited items.
Administer and read tuberculosis skin test.
Document in the patient chart the results of nursing assessments, treatment plans, physician orders, progress notes, and other pertinent data.
Provide direct nursing care to individuals served.
Monitor signs and symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal.
Provide medically monitored evaluation and withdrawal management under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
Monitor changes in condition and update care plans.
Maintain a hygienic and safe work environment in compliance with healthcare procedures.
Maintain all necessary documentation and accurate Medication Administration Records.
Administer medication as ordered by the Medical Director.
Provide direction to technicians during assigned shifts.
Develop treatment plans with patients to address medical issues.
Provide emotional support through listening, counseling, and answering questions.
Consult with in-house staff and outside professionals to ensure comprehensive, quality care for clients.
Provide referrals for identified needs that cannot be met by the Agency.
Maintain professional boundaries with clients and interact appropriately.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Must hold an unrestricted LVN/RN license in Texas.
Requires current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
Must pass state criminal background and driving record checks.
Prefer 1 year of detox, emergency or med-surge nursing experience.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of medical detoxification for substance abuse.
Knowledge of signs and symptoms of substance intoxication and withdrawal, including pharmacological factors.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work with a diverse population.
Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to respond to individuals’ needs in crisis situations.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of AAAM placement criteria and DSM; ability to acquire such knowledge.
Knowledge of the Code of Ethics for nurses.
Knowledge of federal drug and alcohol confidentiality law (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and HIPAA.
Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, outside professionals, and the public.
