Radiology Technologist 2 - Lake Main Campus at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University
Overview Performs radiologic exams and procedures. Provides patient privacy and confidentiality. Ensures patient care is performed in an efficient manner, meeting infection control policies and OLOLRMC Standards for Service Excellence. Responsible for the safe operation of radiologic equipment used in patient care and maintains current knowledge of the operation of any equipment used.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from medical records, significant others and health care providers. Verifies procedure requested or prescribed with the doctor\'s orders and completeness of information (e.g., patient history, clinical diagnosis, special instructions/comments). Confirms patient identity. Gathers information pertinent to determining appropriate type and dosage of contrast agent and evaluates risk of adverse reaction. Provides pre- and post-procedural explanation and instruction to patient and/or family. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Practices standard precautions and follows procedures when in contact with a patient in isolation. Documents required information in appropriate records.
Equipment Operation
Ensures all work areas and equipment are clean, disinfected and presentable. Disposes of contaminated items in exam room preparation. Uses Radiology Information System and Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS) efficiently and accurately.
Quality
Radiation Protection: Adheres to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and department/hospital policies. Takes precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff. Wears a personnel monitoring device. Image production: selects equipment and accessories for requested examinations and ensures image quality and proper positioning.
Other duties as assigned
Performs duties of Radiology Transporter when necessary
Ability to train new technologists
Qualifications
2 years of clinical training in an AMA approved program
Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and current Louisiana Registered Radiologic license (LSRT). New Graduates/Registry Eligible for ARRT and current Louisiana Registered Radiologic license (LSRT). BLS Certification
