Mechanic Heavy Equipment Operator

Town of Yarmouth . The Town of Yarmouth has an opportunity for a qualified individual to fill a Mechanic Heavy Equipment Operator position working with the highway team. Under the supervision of the Highway Supervisor, the role involves skilled maintenance and repair of small equipment, vehicles, and heavy equipment, along with shop maintenance and driving light and heavy trucks. Responsibilities include maintaining written or computerized maintenance records, performing preventative maintenance, greasing, oiling, tire and battery changes, body work, brake and bearing replacements, and operating trucks and snow removal equipment. The role requires interpreting OSHA regulations and performing related work as needed. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, training at the journeyman level, three years of relevant experience, a Class A Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement, and a Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer’s License with endorsements 2A, 3A, and 1D. Knowledge of repair methods, welding skills, and operating various tools and equipment are also required. Physical effort includes frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and other physical activities.
