M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.
We are seeking an experienced
Electrical Inspector
to join our team at the RFK Bridge. This role is critical in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of electrical installations across power, communications systems, and ITS elements (including fiber and camera systems). The ideal candidate will be available to start within the next two weeks.
Responsibilities
Inspection & Verification
Inspect electrical installations (wiring, conduits, panels, lighting, grounding) for compliance with NEC, IEC, and project specifications. Verify materials and components (cables, breakers, panels, transformers) meet approval and spec requirements. Ensure proper installation of: Cable routing and terminations Panel and switchgear layout Conduit installation and bending Equipment grounding and bonding Earthing systems Firestopping and sealing
Testing & Commissioning
Witness and review testing procedures including: Insulation resistance (Megger), continuity, ground resistance, high-voltage, loop impedance, and RCD testing Functional testing of control panels and automation systems Confirm operation of emergency systems (generators, UPS, fire alarms, emergency lighting)
Documentation & Reporting
Generate daily reports via ASITE system Complete inspection checklists, test results, and as-built drawings Maintain detailed records of inspections, non-conformances (NCRs), and corrective actions
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with construction teams, QA/QC Resident Engineers, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors Participate in site meetings, audits, and punch list walks
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and other safety codes Monitor adherence to LOTO and electrical hazard control procedures Report and follow up on safety concerns and hazards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical systems inspection
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MTA / TBTA projects
Salary Range: $48-$60/HR
