This position is only open to Colorado state residents. Responsibilities

Serve as a Labor/Grounds Maintenance Supervisor at BVCC, ensuring the safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective completion of grounds maintenance for the facility complex. Train and oversee an inmate work crew in grounds maintenance operations; supervise staff and inmates in the proper use of tools, equipment, and procedures; enforce safety and security procedures. Maintain safety and security of the facility and work sites; conduct regular work site inspections, searches, and adherence to agency policies; respond to emergency situations as required. Provide supervision of assigned inmate workers, set work standards, and ensure high-quality performance; coordinate with other trades to use resources efficiently. Oversee inspection, repair, and maintenance of grounds, including lawn care, landscape projects, irrigation, concrete work, asphalt patching, and snow removal; may supervise crews outside the BV Correctional Complex and transport crews as needed. Participate in inmate hiring, track hours and pay, schedule tasks, inspect work, and resolve inmate grievances; promote community reentry opportunities for inmates. Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of employment experience in residential or commercial grounds maintenance. Grounds Maintenance experience includes preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of automated irrigation systems, lawn care/landscaping, and varied exterior work such as concrete, asphalt, fencing, and snow removal. OR four (4) years of combined experience including at least two (2) years of employment in grounds maintenance plus correctional experience related to security duties (e.g., detaining, controlling movement, escorting inmates, counts and searches). Substitutions: formal apprenticeship or a degree from an accredited vocational school may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Transcripts may be requested to verify substitution. Experience designing, installing and repairing automated irrigation systems Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and/or painting Experience as a heavy equipment operator Conditions of Employment

Must be 21 years of age Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record; be eligible to drive a State-owned vehicle as required Possess a high school diploma or GED Have no felony convictions or disqualifying conduct as outlined in policy Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States; CDOC uses e-Verify Successful completion of the Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training and related requirements Ability to meet physical and safety requirements including defensive tactics and ability to work in high-stress situations Successful completion of a background investigation is required.
