Prater Engineering is an established and stable full‑service MEP/FP engineering firm headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, with a growing branch in Tampa, Florida. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience in the design of HVAC systems, including controls, energy modeling, load analysis/calculations, mechanical equipment selection, and the development of construction drawings for residential, commercial, institutional, industrial and healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate must be located in Tampa, FL and be PE registered or able to obtain their PE.
Responsibilities
Produce HVAC construction drawings and specifications for new and existing facilities utilizing AutoCAD and Revit. Perform field investigations to determine existing conditions. Load analysis and calculations utilizing Trane Trace. Coordinate HVAC requirements with work of other trades, including architectural, structural, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical trades. Knowledge and implementation of applicable building codes. Equipment selection and evaluation. Attend meetings with clients and consultants. Perform construction administration including RFI’s, change orders, shop drawings, field conflicts, etc. Perform construction observation and develop punch lists. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a registered PE in the state of Florida. Must have a minimum of 10 years experience. Must be proficient in either AutoCAD OR Revit. Strong problem solving, technical, math and science skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines and end-goals.
