This is an in-person position located in Pawling, NY with a target start date of 10/6. Travel up to 5% of the time. Schedules include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays; regular schedule will include at least one weekend day. What You'll Get

Compensation Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on factors including education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands, or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only; compensation may increase over time based on performance. The expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and may be modified in the future. The target hiring range for this role is $34.60 - $37.00 per hour. Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Functional Duties (85%) Provide a safe and compassionate environment for animals, staff, and clients using low-stress handling techniques. Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or poor welfare and communicate issues quickly and effectively. Provide veterinary medical care within the license scope, including basic examinations, triage, surgical support, venipuncture, catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia, diagnostic testing, radiographs, CPCR, and humane euthanasia. Monitor patients post-operatively for safety and potential complications. Perform or be trained to perform dental cleanings and radiographs. Oversee preventative, vaccination, and treatment schedules; ensure animals are up-to-date. Handle, administer, and log controlled substances under a veterinarian's direction and in accordance with laws and protocols. Maintain knowledge of daily procedures and protocols. Ensure thorough and timely data entry to medical records with exam findings, results, and treatments. Support collection of evidence and documentation of examinations of live and deceased victims of animal cruelty, including forensic exams and necropsies; follow chain of custody protocols. Obtain continuing education as required by ASPCA and licensing boards. Explain an animal's condition clearly to staff and volunteers; collaborate with behavior and sheltering teams for holistic care. Communicate with the behavior team to share information promptly; track inventory and keep veterinary areas stocked; identify ordering needs. Assist in staff training on disease control, nutrition, and preventive schedules; stay current with shelter medicine practices. Maintain clean, organized medical areas and assist other teams with daily animal care as needed. Administrative, Financial, & Operational Duties (15%) Participate in daily rounds with behavioral and sheltering staff to provide integrated care. Attend Veterinary Services, cross-functional, and all-staff meetings. Track and report time worked, leave, and travel expenses; steward R&R Center assets. Education & Work Experience

Licensed Veterinary Technician by the NYS Department of Education. At least one year of hands-on experience with dogs; shelter medicine experience preferred. Fear Free Veterinary certification (approximately 9 hours) required within 60 days of hire. Qualifications

Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle history check. Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time. Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; shelter software or Salesforce a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to witness animals suffering and be comfortable with humane euthanasia in theory and practice. Commitment to safety and well-being; fosters collaboration and builds trust-based relationships. Willingness to work in varied environments and handle chemical/biological hazards; physically able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift animals up to 50 lbs unassisted (100 lbs with assistance) and equipment; able to wear PPE.
