Overview
Research Support Technician, Animal Care role at City of Hope. Base pay range: $21.00/hr - $25.00/hr. This role supports the Animal Care Program under the direction of the Animal Care Supervisor and is responsible for the husbandry care of laboratory animals and related duties. Responsibilities
Observe and report any sick, injured, or distressed animals to the Animal Health Technician or Clinical Veterinarian. Change cages at scheduled intervals or as needed, ensuring animals always have adequate food and water. Document daily husbandry activities using a computerized database system. Monitor and report environmental conditions in animal holding rooms, including any non-compliant parameters or equipment issues. Clean and sanitize animal holding rooms and support areas to maintain a hygienic environment. Perform weekly animal census accurately and resolve discrepancies. Support technical procedures, including animal restraint, sample collection, and maintenance of biosafety equipment. Provide technical services to investigators and humanely euthanize animals when required. Your qualifications
High School or equivalent. Preferred qualifications
No animal care experience required; however prior animal care or veterinary technician experience preferred. AALAS ALAT certification. Demonstrated ability to complete routine husbandry and sanitation assignments. Pay and benefits
