PG&E's Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation, with 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, and 41 miles of flumes. The department is expanding into renewables such as wind, PV solar, and fuel cells. Position Summary

The Solar Technician position is a journeyman level role. Required skills are those of a journeyman electrician or Power Plant Technician qualified in the Electrical skill block discipline. The successful candidate will perform work assignments with or without direct supervision, including inspection, evaluation, testing, cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining solar PV module systems, mounting hardware, combiner fuse boxes, inverters, switchgear, and related equipment. Employees will be required to travel between facilities located within their assigned geographic area as part of their normal job responsibilities. Responsibilities

Apply safe work practices and perform facilities’ clearance and switching procedures per PG&E safety policies. Work safely with or without direct supervision, conducting safety tailboards as required. Review and understand technical documents such as OEM manuals, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and relay settings. Work safely near energized voltages up to 12 kV A.C. Troubleshoot and perform routine preventative and corrective electrical maintenance on equipment such as batteries, chargers, wiring, ground systems, fuses, filters, inverters, transformers, monitoring equipment, circuit breakers, and switchgear. Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System to input data, create job notifications, perform work tasks, and close jobs. Help develop, review, and update operating and maintenance procedures. Monitor and record routine operating data and keep supervisors informed of equipment status. Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained and address deficiencies immediately. Conduct all assigned activities in a professional, business‑like manner. Minimum Qualifications

At least 18 years of age. High School diploma or GED. Valid State Driver’s License with good driving record. State or PG&E certification as a Journeyman Electrician or minimum 5 years experience operating and maintaining electrical equipment/utility solar generating facilities. Ability to work alone in isolated areas and outside under varying temperature extremes. Willingness to work overtime as required. Desired Qualifications

Successful completion of an accredited solar photovoltaic technical training program. Experience in working on solar photovoltaic project sites in construction or operations and maintenance. Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Experience with SAP work management process. Factory certifications to repair Satcon, Advanced Energy, or SMA inverters. Salary

Hourly rate: $65.27 per hour. Wage based on locality, skills, experience, market value, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
