Overview
Evaluates and treats patients of all ages, modifying the plan of care as appropriate. Serves as a role model in the delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students.
Responsibilities
Performs patient transfers with assistance as needed from bed, chair, and floor, if applicable.
Demonstrates safe and appropriate body mechanics to minimize injury risk to self, staff, and patients.
Treats patients and colleagues with dignity and respect, showing empathy and engagement.
Designs an appropriate plan of care that includes goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge planning.
Adjusts care based on patient response and current evidence.
Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and other healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
Evaluates clinical findings to determine diagnoses and care outcomes.
Performs examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to the chief complaint and history.
Documents in accordance with the Clinical Process Policy (CTSCP67).
Screens patients to determine the need for further therapy services.
Utilizes support personnel ethically and legally, monitoring and providing feedback on their care.
Completes annual education as required by DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program, if applicable.
Evaluates impairments related to orthopedic and neurologic conditions.
Establishes a care plan based on functional deficits and patient goals.
Performs objective testing of range of motion, strength, and functional performance.
Maintains daily documentation and billing in the EMR.
Applies tape for movement stabilization, facilitation, or inhibition.
Administers therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, interferential, iontophoresis as appropriate.
Communicates progress and treatment recommendations with referring providers.
Qualifications
Certifications: BLS within 30 days (AHA); Licensed Physical Therapist (IDFPR)
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
