Posting Details Position Title: Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor (Posting Number: 2025002P). Classification: 9001 RCW. Exemption: No Exemption. Salary: $35/hour for a bachelor’s in Dental Hygiene and registered hygienist in WA; $40/hour for a master’s in a related field and registered hygienist in WA. Benefits: May become eligible after 6 months. Anticipated Start Date: ASAP. Term of Appointment: Academic year – early August through end of June. Location: Spokane, WA County.
Primary Responsibilities
Interact with students and patients to benefit oral health care.
Provide written and oral feedback to students, evaluating their clinical performance objectively and positively.
Assist students in supervising clinic check‑in and check‑out procedures in a timely manner.
Model professionalism in conduct and presentation.
Follow dress code, piercings, hair, shoes, PPE, etc. requirements consistent with students.
Be familiar with clinic course syllabi, including acceptance of enrollment and review of documents in applicable Canvas courses.
Use Canvas Learning Management System for student assessment and grading.
Utilize iPad and/or laptop computers for clinical and laboratory assessment and grading.
Be knowledgeable of the Clinic Policies and Procedures Manual and provide suggestions for future editions.
Be prompt in attending assigned clinical sessions.
Plan and implement assigned stations for clinic workshops.
Attend regularly scheduled faculty in‑service meetings.
Receive ongoing training in educational methodologies.
Qualifications
Meet annual continuing education requirements for re‑licensure (15 hours/year) and provide instruction using current scientific methods and principles.
Maintain current certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (every two years).
Maintain current Washington State Dental Hygiene license.
Document compliance with hepatitis B vaccination or sign a declination form.
Document yearly tuberculosis skin testing or sign a declination form.
Minimum BA in Dental Hygiene.
Preferred Qualifications
Maintain current membership in a professional association such as the American Dental Hygienists’ Association or American Dental Association.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work collaboratively.
Work Schedule Type Part‑time. AM shift: 7:45 am–12:00 pm. PM shift: 1:00 pm–5:00 pm.
Status and Closing Information Seniority Level: Entry level.
